What’s the difference between a pre-order and a custom order?
A pre-order gives you the opportunity to purchase a new Sling Studio release that has not yet been made publicly available, with the understanding that it is a bespoke item made to order and will be shipped at a later date than usual. These items are not in our inventory in our warehouse – the fabric is woven then cut-to-order after the pre-order window closes, tested for safety and sent to our seamstresses to hand finish. As a small company who cares about the environment, it is important to us that we do not over-produce or create fabric waste. Pre-orders help to ensure this.
A custom order is when a group of babywearers (group of 15 recommended) approach us with their own design concept that they’d like us to produce. They come up with a name, create a moodboard, choose the colours and composition, and we bring their idea to life! What are the advantages of buying a pre-order item?
As an environmentally and ethically conscious brand, we don’t mass produce and all of our releases are produced in limited runs – sometimes as little as three or four individual wraps, or only a few of each size. We feel so honoured to be able to say that demand for our designs are quite high and that our timed, draw, or website releases have been known to sell out quite rapidly. But this means that members of our community often miss out on items they would have loved to have in their collection.
Pre-orders run for a period of 7 days, and pre-ordering guarantees that that the limited edition item/s will be yours at the earliest opportunity. No disappointment of seeing ‘sold out’ on something you really love. If you want time to think about what item you want or to contact us for advice about sizing or fibres with no pressure, then you’ve got it!
When will my pre-ordered item/s be shipped?
Expected delivery schedules for pre-orders are included in the individual listings, and in your pre-order confirmation email. For Buzz Aureate, this is expected to be within 12 weeks of the closing of the pre-order window – approximately mid August. It is possible that you’ll receive your items sooner, but we’d rather overestimate than underestimate!
We will let you know when your order is at the seamstress, and will update you again when it has been dispatched by us. Once dispatched, your order should be with you within 24-48 hours, wherever you are in the world.
How and when will I be charged for my pre-order?
We take full payment for the pre-order at checkout. You can use debit/credit card or PayPal. Or you may choose to use Klarna’s Pay in 3 option to spread the cost.
Payment for your Pay Later in 3 interest-free instalments will automatically be collected from the debit or credit card you entered at checkout. The first payment is taken when the order is confirmed. The second and third instalments are collected 30 and 60 days, respectively, after the first instalment. You can always monitor your payments’ schedule in the Klarna app.
You can also use Klarna’s Pay in 30 days/Pay in 14 days options – the payment timeline for this will be triggered after your pre-order has been confirmed by us, rather than after dispatch.
Are there any additional charges?
Nope! The price you see on the listing and at checkout is the price you’ll pay. VAT is included in the price of the product. We offer worldwide free delivery, and for international customers, we send all our orders DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), which means that all duties and taxes are covered.
In the rare occasion that you do receive a payment notice from customs, please don’t pay this – contact us instead so we can arrange for this to be rectified with DHL.
What happens after I've placed my pre-order?
You will receive an email confirmation of your order, and will receive another email from us when the fabric is at the mill. In this email, you’ll be sent a link to a page where you can track each stage of your Buzz Aureate’s journey from the weaving process all the way to dispatch and receipt. We’ll send you another email confirming dispatch.
If you chose to use our pay later options at checkout, you’ll also receive email notifications from Klarna regarding your payments.
Can I amend my order?
Can I order more than one pre-order item?
Absolutely! You can pre-order as many items as you’d like in the same order. In fact, our fabric pieces can only be ordered if you’re also ordering a Buzz Aureate wrap or ring sling. And if you order a scarf alongside a wrap or ring sling, you’ll receive a £40 discount!
Why am I getting an error code when I try to order a fabric piece?
Purchase of a fabric piece is exclusive to those who are also pre-ordering a Buzz Aureate wrap or ring sling, so if you’re trying to purchase it on its own you won’t be able to checkout. Apologies!
Can I order other items from the website at the same time?
Of course! You have two options here:
- Order in-stock items at the same time as your pre-order items, and have the in-stock items be dispatched to you once your pre-order items are ready to be shipped.
- Create two separate orders, one with your pre-order items and one with items that are in stock. This way, your order with available items will be dispatched within 3-5 working days.
How do I know what size of wrap to get?
You can find our sizing guide here. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by all the sizing information and unsure of which one to go for, it may be helpful for you to know that most babywearers find size 6 to be a perfect starting point. A size 6 will allow you to get used to wrapping and to try out many different carry types to find out what you like best.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
You can cancel your pre-order any time within 14 days of receiving your initial pre-order confirmation via email to receive a full refund.
